12th Stationery Fair “Book for Rural India”

JAN-2011 – With the objective of promoting book reading also in places beyond cities, “Book for Rural India” was adopted as the theme of the 16th Delhi Book Fair that was inaugurated on December 25th, 2010 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. An eagerly awaited annual event for legions of the book lovers, the fair was being organized by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) in collaboration with The Federation of India Publishers (FIP) and it took place from December 25, 2010 to January 2, 2011 in Hall Nos. 8 to 12 A at Pragati Maidan. Stationery Fair 2010, a concurrent ITPO event, was also an added attraction for the visitors. These fairs were inaugurated by Dr. Subas Pani, Chairman and Managing Director, ITPO on December 25, 2010. The fair attracted over 250 participants from India and abroad. The overseas participants were from China and Pakistan. A part from promoting literacy and reading habit especially among children and youth, the fair offered opportunities for short term business transactions, co-publishing agreements, translation copyrights and reprinting arrangements. This was also a sourcing ground for Libraries. The Book Fair also featured a number of seminars, book launches that included subjects, such as, “Discover the Genius in your Child”, Literary Reminiscences”, “Ancient Book on astrology – Relevance in Digital Age,” “How to Study intelligently” and “Toppers – Secrets of Success”. Besides, panel discussions on Language and Market, Lectures, Kavi Sammelans, Poetry reading and short story seminars, literary activities, book release function and literary activities for children also took place during the fair.
